This is the privacy policy for pctjapaneseprogram.com, the website of the Japanese Language Program at Philippine College of Technology (PCT) in Davao City.
We respect your privacy. We follow the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) of the Philippines. This page explains in simple words what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
The Japanese Language Program is run by Philippine College of Technology in Davao City. Our campuses are:
- PCT Bajada Campus: Dr. Gahol Drive, Garden Park Village, Bajada, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur
- PCT Calinan Campus: Bayanihan Road / Calinan-Wangan Road (Purok 17-B, Bayanihan, Wangan), Calinan, Davao City, Philippines
We decide how your information is used, so we are responsible for taking care of it.
This website was built and is maintained by Cornerstone Enterprise Consulting Inc., a company in the Philippines. Cornerstone works on our behalf. It may have access to the information described in this policy only to keep the website working, fix problems, and support the program. It may not use your information for its own purposes.
2. What information we collect
If you just visit the site: You do not need to sign up to read the pages. Like most websites, our hosting provider may see basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you open. This is used to show you the site and to keep it safe.
If you fill out the enrollment form: We collect what you type into the form, such as your name, email address, and message.
If you are a student and sign in with Google: We collect your Google email address and name, which Google confirms for us. We never see or keep your Google password.
If you take quizzes and use your student account: We keep your email address, the quiz title, your score, and the date and time you finished. We also keep your attendance, your current step in the program (Step 1 to Step 4), whether your work was reviewed, and the feedback notes your teacher writes for you.
If you use the flashcards: Your flashcard progress is saved on your own phone or computer. We do not receive it.
If you are in our Success Stories: We show a student's name and photo or quote only with that student's permission. If you want your story changed or taken down, contact us and we will do it.
3. Why we use your information
We use your information only for these reasons:
- To answer you when you ask about enrolling in the program
- To let students in the class open the quizzes and flashcards
- To record scores, attendance, and progress, and to give feedback
- To keep the site working and safe
- To follow the law and the rules of government offices that oversee us, such as TESDA and DMW
We do not sell your information. We do not use it to send you things you did not ask for.
4. Who else handles your information
We use trusted services to run the website. Your information may pass through them:
- Asana keeps the details you send through the enrollment form.
- Google (Sign-In, Sheets) handles student login, the list of enrolled students, and records of scores and progress.
- Cloudflare hosts the website.
- Cloudinary or ImageBB host the pictures on the site.
- Cornerstone Enterprise Consulting Inc. built and maintains the website and the student tools, so it can access them to keep them running.
- YouTube shows some videos. A video only loads after you click it. Once you play it, YouTube may use its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.
These services may store information on servers outside the Philippines.
Only authorized teachers and staff of the program can see student records. We may also share information when the law requires it, or when a government office such as TESDA or DMW properly asks for it.
5. Cookies
We do not use cookies to follow you around the internet. The site saves small bits of data in your browser only to make things work, such as keeping you signed in as a student or saving your flashcard progress.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the reasons in this policy, or for as long as the law or a government office requires. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it unreadable.
7. How we protect your information
- Students sign in with Google, so we do not keep passwords.
- Only students on the class list can open the quizzes.
- Only school staff who sign in with school Google accounts can open the teacher dashboard.
- Access to our tools is limited to the people who need it for their work.
No website is 100 percent safe, but we work to keep your information protected. If there is a serious problem with your information, we will tell you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.
